Zombie Movies in 2013

zombieI know, Zombie movies aren’t strictly science fiction, but you could argue for their inclusion if the zombies happen to be created out of a technological change. Regardless, I like the concept and it looks like there will be at least a few to enjoy this year.

World War Z (June 2013, Paramount)

Trailer on YouTube

Directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) and starring Brad Pitt, this is based on the book World War Z, An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks. I haven’t read the book yet but it looks like the movie has some interesting CGI, plenty of action and the fastest moving zombies yet seen.

Warm Bodies (February 2013, Summit)

Trailer on YouTube

Directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50) and starring Nicholas Hoult, Warm Bodies is based on the book by Isaac Marion. The first Hollywood zombie love story? I guess so. The first person narration from the perspective of a zombie is great (of course I would say that, given the subject matter of one of my short stories). I just hope that there is substance to the film and we haven’t seen it all in the trailer. Looks promising though.

R.I.P.D. (July 2013, Universal)

Directed by Robert Schwentke (RED) and starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, R.I.P.D. is based on the comic Rest In Peace Department by Peter M. Lenkov. The unlikely scenario here is a recently killed police officer joining a department of undead police officers to search for his killer.

(I realise that the top photo I’ve used here is more of a mummy than a zombie but I wanted to use one of my own photos for a change rather than resort too often to stock images).

I put your blog in my Bloglovin’ reader but no posts ever showed up. So I assumed you hadn’t posted anything. I guess I was wrong! I read Warm Bodies and World War Z and look forward to them both! I didn’t know about R.I.P.D.

Hey, no problem but thanks for coming back. I’m just using Google Reader but I’m amazed at how often it’s difficult to work out how to follow a blog, other than a manual cut/paste of the url.
